More and more couples are contacting us regarding the name change process.  We are not qualified or able to answer the questions that you have for the process of name change.  We are responsible to mail in our portion of your marriage license to Thunder Bay Ontario (Office of the Registrar General) within 48 hours of your wedding.  That is Kettle Creek Weddings firm policy and we are careful to fulfill this responsibility on your behalf.

Regarding the Record of Solemnization (tear off portion of license) it is our practice to give this portion to you the day of your wedding.  We put the Record of Solemnization in a large white envelope called The Kit.

We are of the understanding that is not in the practice of the licensing office in Thunder Bay to issue a receipt or acknowledgment of registering your marriage.  However you need to be assured that we have mailed your marriage license to their office for registration according to their requirements.

Here are some links that we have found that will help you through the process of changing your name.  Every agency and organization is different so please do your research.

It is our understanding that most city halls are making information available regarding name change.  Our first recommendation would be to contact the city hall where you purchased your license.
